Commuter numbers between Sweden and Denmark plummeting again

diagram_commutersFewer people commute across Øresund. Newly released statistics show that commuter numbers from Sweden to Denmark went down by 1500 from 2010 to 2011. At the same time the number of Danes commuting to work in Sweden increased. The percentage living in Denmark and working in Sweden is quite small, but numbers are increasing and went up from 712 to 827 during the years 2010/2011. Most commuters live in Sweden and work in the Greater Copenhagen area. However, they are on the decrease. From 2010 to 2011 commuters from Sweden to Denmark decreased by 1500 and now total 16,226. Compared to the record year 2008, when 19,097 commuted from Sweden to Denmark, numbers have decreased by 15 percent, new figures from the Danish-Swedish statistics cooperation Ørestat show. (News Øresund)
